ABOUT
SPIRIT OF THE RIVER RETREAT
This extremely unique 4 bedroom 2 bath home has everything you could ask for when visiting the Black Mountains of North Carolina. Even the approach to the home will leave you awestruck. The long driveway meanders through the forest running parallel to the Cane River passing by an old cattle barn and soon submerges you in a thick canopy of old growth Rhododendron. The canopy of Rhododendron you pass under with its imposing appearance leaves you with the feeling that you have entered a portal to natures own magical fairyland. You can't help but feel the elemental energy of natures finest.

There is a wonderfully private trail on the property which follows the path of the Cane River. You have to experience it to understand the expression that walking this trail is like being on hallowed ground. Its absolutely spectacular; one visitor described it as "It's like being in church".

Be assured the surroundings of this home with its awesome beauty will totally engulf you. Spring time here is unbelievably beautiful with an abundance of wild flowers which cover the land like a carpet. You can expect to see Wild Iris, Lady Slippers, Showy Orchids,Trillium of all colors, Jack in the Pulpit, May Apples, Ferns of all varieties and much more.

There is a large wrap around deck with views of the river, forest and old growth rhododendron with a gas grill and outdoor furniture for outside dinning.

The interior of this home is all completely remodeled and has personal touches that make it just as unique as the land it sits on. Equipped with two TV's; one in the living room the other being in the game room. The master bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub with extremely unique locally hand crafted wall and floor tiles. The Jacuzzi tub is set in a wood Wormy Chestnut frame which compliments the Wormy Chestnut trimming throughout the master bedroom. There are two almost floor to ceiling windows which open and allow you to hear and view the bouldered Cane River and surrounding forest. Open them and let the sounds of nature enter the bedroom. It also has its own meditation area in a setting that compels you to relax, renew your spirit and reflect on how wonderful your life is.

The living room has large windows facing the river and a brick hearth wood burning fireplace. (Firewood is provided.) An adequate supply of firewood is provided at no cost. The home is heated with a forced air heating system.

The lower level is equipped with its own TV, games and a ping pong table for the children to enjoy when they aren't outdoors exploring the forest and river. Don't forget to bring your fishing equipment for this river has an abundance of trout. Take your days catch to the large outside fire pit which is surrounded by log chairs and tables. A perfect setting for outside dining or just a hot dog cookout followed by a roasted marshmallow desert.

This home can easily accommodate 8 Guests. It has three bedrooms in the upper two floors and a full size sleeper sofa in the lower level game room. Two of these bedrooms have queen size beds and the other has a full size bed. All bed and bath linens are provided. All you need to bring with you are your clothes and groceries; everything else is there.

Pets are welcome, however there is a $45.00 non-refundable pet fee.
